Rosecrance receives two grants from Community Foundation for McHenry County

The Community Foundation for McHenry County recently presented two generous grants to Rosecrance to support the Therapeutic Recreation and TRACTION Programs.

The first grant will allow Rosecrance to expand its Therapeutic Recreation Program for youth with behavior disorders in McHenry County by growing the Arts, Animals and Adventures Program that integrates excursions and recreation into therapy and by securing play and sensory therapy to help foster calm and well-being, and create a space where kids can access non-verbal therapeutic resources. The second grant will support the TRACTION Program at Rosecrance, which is a community-based therapy program in McHenry County that helps youth and families gain traction in treatment through evidence-based therapy services at home and school.

“These two programs are integral to the success of so many of our clients,” explains Rosecrance Regional Administrator, Carlene Cardosi. “We often talk about individualized care and this is it. Rosecrance meets clients where they are at by providing evidence-based approaches to treatment tailored to each unique situation.”

Since 2001, The Community Foundation for McHenry County, an affiliate of The Chicago Community Trust, has connected the generosity of donors with community needs by making grants to organizations working to create a better quality of life throughout McHenry County. In FY 2018, the Community Foundation for McHenry County, together with its donors, granted more than $2.2 million to nonprofit organizations: protecting the health and human services safety net, helping to sustain arts and education, and supporting health and healthy lifestyles.

“We are so grateful for these generous grants, which make it possible for Rosecrance to provide an environment of excellence, dignity and hope, and bring healing to more individuals and families who need it,” says Rosecrance Vice President of Communication and Development, Anne Boccignone. “The lives of our clients will be forever changed.”
