Designer visits Rosecrance Japanese-inspired healing garden

Hoichi Kurisu and Carla RothHoichi Kurisu, renowned Japanese landscaper and designer of the Rosecrance healing garden, visits annually with his crew to maintain the garden at the Rosecrance Griffin Williamson campus.

During a recent visit, Hoichi took a break from pruning a tree to meet with Carla Roth, Rosecrance Recreational Therapist. Carla leads therapy groups in the garden on a regular basis and guides clients through a variety of mindfulness exercises, reflections and activities to elicit feelings of peace and calm, and aid treatment progress.

Carla and Hoichi discussed a wide range of topics from meditation, garden etiquette and the ability of nature to facilitate healing. Hoichi was overcome with emotion when hearing about how his projects are changing lives for the better.
