Rosecrance approved for Veterans Choice Program

Rosecrance was recently approved for the Veterans Choice Program, which means that veterans will be able to receive treatment services from Rosecrance paid for by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

The Veterans Choice Program is one of several programs through which a veteran can receive care from a community provider at no expense to them. For example, if a veteran needs an appointment for a specific type of care, and VA cannot provide the care in a timely manner or the nearest VA medical facility is unreasonably inconvenient, then a veteran may be eligible for care through the Veterans Choice Program.

The program is a particularly exciting addition for Rosecrance when considering the Rosecrance Florian Program, a specialized program that offers substance use and mental health services for first responders and veterans, and incorporates occupational factors and traumas into the treatment experience, says Dan DeGryse, Director of the Florian Program.

“At Rosecrance we remove barriers to treatment and combat stigma that surrounds behavioral health disorders,” adds DeGryse. “The Veterans Choice Program is an incredible step toward achieving that and an opportunity to further support the veterans who have demonstrated courage and sacrifice when our country needed them most.”

To use the Veterans Choice Program, veterans must receive prior authorization from the VA to receive care from a provider that is part of the VA’s VCP network of community providers. The authorization is based on specific eligibility requirements and discussions with the veteran’s VA provider.
