When surveyors from The Joint Commission conducted their triennial accreditation survey September 19-23, Rosecrance was praised for the quality of their services and the care they provide to clients. Rosecrance has been accredited by The Joint Commission since 1984.
The Joint Commission is a non-for-profit organization that has set healthcare standards for nearly seven decades and valuated other organizations’ compliance with those standards. It accredits and certifies more than 22,000 healthcare organizations in the United States, including hospitals and healthcare organizations that provide ambulatory and office-based surgery, behavioral health, home healthcare, laboratory, and nursing care center services. The Joint Commission accreditation survey is the highest possible standard for behavioral health treatment centers.
“We take the observations from The Joint Commission very seriously to demonstrate that we are a leader in behavioral healthcare,” said Rosecrance President and CEO Dave Gomel, Ph.D. “The thorough process shows what we do well and where we can improve. I am incredibly proud of the positive feedback we received from this survey.”
The scale and scope of the accreditation process is demanding, comprehensive and arduous. A team of surveyors reviewed 26 sites throughout Illinois and Iowa over the course of five days. Surveyors observed and evaluated Rosecrance in categories of quality care, consistency, accountability and safety among both staff and clients.
One surveyor made this observation: “The real question is ‘would I send a loved one to Rosecrance?’… Rosecrance is clearly a company that embraces quality. The short answer is, yes, I would send a loved one to Rosecrance.”
“Working with the survey team gave our staff great opportunities to demonstrate how we champion hope through outcomes-based practices, expertise, and compassion,” Gomel said. “The Joint Commission received a firsthand look at the care we take to give all clients the best chance for lasting recovery.”
Rosecrance served over 50,000 clients last year and continues to expand to meet community needs and provide as many individuals and families with help, hope and lasting recovery. The accreditation of The Joint Commission allows Rosecrance to continue positioning itself as an expert in behavioral healthcare and a leader for other treatment providers to follow.
