Rosecrance invites the community to its Second Recovery 5K Walk/Run

Rosecrance will host its second annual 5K walk/run this summer. The event celebrates recovery and Rosecrance’s reputation of changing lives. Proceeds will support Rosecrance programs and the families who seek treatment for substance abuse and mental health disorders.

The Rosecrance Recovery 5K Walk/Run with the theme “Every Step Counts” takes place Sunday, Aug. 6. The start time is 7 a.m., and the event will start and finish at the Rosecrance Berry Campus, 8616 Northern Ave., Rockford.

A committee of Rosecrance employees and community volunteers has been busy since last year coordinating the recovery 5K. The committee is chaired by Betsy Liotus, Development Director for Rosecrance. The group is excited to include the community in a recovery-focused and healthy activity.

“The journey toward recovery begins with just one step,” Liotus said. “Rosecrance served over 25,000 individuals and families last year, and we are proud of our commitment to change and save lives.

“Last year’s inaugural event was a great success with over 400 participants. This 5K puts the spotlight on recovery, and we hope it encourages and inspires our clients, our staff and our community.”

Advance registration for the event is $30 for adults and $10 for children ages 17 and younger. All participants will receive a medal, T-shirt, goodie bag and refreshments at the end of the race. Awards also will be given to age group winners.
