Rosecrance Flower Day at Gensler Gardens will take place from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, at both Gensler Gardens locations: 8631 11th Street, New Milford; and 102 Orth Road, Loves Park.
The roots of Flower Day trace back to the former Rosecrance adolescent treatment campus on Alpine Road. A small flower sale took place in the parking lot of the campus, and the sale eventually moved to the parking lot of the Edgebrook shopping center. Gensler Gardens has since sponsored the event for many years and the family generously donates a portion of the day’s proceeds to Rosecrance.
Flower Day annually raises about $25,000 to support treatment services for mental health and substance use disorders. This year’s funds will support the Rosecrance Kinley Fund, which provides charity care to reduce financial barriers to treatment for clients and their families.
This annual event is always held on the Thursday before Mother’s Day, which is the typical turning point in northern Illinois for safe planting. Gensler Gardens offers a full greenhouse selection of annuals, perennials and gorgeous hanging baskets.
