Northern Illinois NAMI chapter hosts ‘In Our Own Voice’ Jan. 8

The Northern Illinois Chapter of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) will present “In Our Own Voice” on Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Stepping Stones, 706 N. Main St., Rockford.

“In Our Own Voice” is a unique public education program developed by NAMI in which two trained speakers share compelling personal stories about living with mental health issues and achieving recovery.

During the presentation, audience members are encouraged to offer feedback and ask questions. Such participation is an important part of “In Our Own Voice” because it increases the understanding of what living with a mental illness and remaining in recovery is actually like.

The “In Our Own Voice” program will begin at 7 p.m., and the meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. Parking will be available in the rear lot off Church Street.
