Lighting the path forward
Rosecrance held luminaria walks at its residential sites in honor of those lost to overdose.
As the sun set on International Overdose Awareness Day, hope remained illuminated for those in recovery from substance use.
Rosecrance held luminaria walks at its residential sites in honor of those lost to overdose, with staff, alumni, and clients coming together to pay their respects. This year, for the first time, the walks were made public, with participants gathering at Shepherd’s Garden in Sioux City, Iowa, to support one another and remember their loved ones who have passed.
At the Rosecrance Harrison Campus in Rockford, Illinois, the Alumni led the way through a path guided by luminaria bags in support of one another in their recovery community, as well as the residents currently at the Harrison Campus who are beginning their journey.
As a reminder that they are not alone in their journey, the path they took was lit by messages of hope, honesty, and remembrance. These messages of hope will carry into National Recovery Month, as Rosecrance and the communities it serves begin their observation of strides made by those in recovery and honor the professionals who help make life without substances possible.
