Rosecrance to mark Mental Health Awareness Month in May
The awareness month comes shortly before the national 9-8-8 mental health crisis line launches.
Rosecrance is recognizing Mental Health Awareness Month this May and encourages supporters to join us in fighting this deadly disease.
About one-in-four adults experience a mental health disorder each year, and about half of all Americans will have a diagnosable mental health condition at some point in their lives. This year, the awareness month comes shortly before the national 9-8-8 mental health crisis line launches on July 16. Those who call the number will be connected directly to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
“Anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues are much more common than we realize, but we still struggle to talk about them as much as we should,” said Rosecrance Regional President Carlene Cardosi. “This month is an excellent opportunity to have conversations, educate ourselves, and support others to reduce the stigma of mental health disorders.”
Throughout May, Rosecrance will host a variety of activities for staff and clients to encourage healthy minds at sites. Please join us in the spirit of Mental Health Awareness Month by learning more about mental health disorders and checking in with loved ones.
